Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Adhere to all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and communicate recommended changes to the supervising PT.
• Instruct and assist patients with active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within the scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Must be currently licensed, registered, or certified to practice physical therapy in the state of practice.
• CPR certification is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
