The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant Role
The Physical Therapist Assistant assumes clinical responsibility in an assigned facility, primarily providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Additional administrative duties may be assigned. The role requires following all state-specific laws, adhering to treatment plans set by the supervising Physical Therapist, and performing only qualified procedures. Recommendations for changes in the plan of care should be communicated to the supervising PT.
You Will:
- Follow the plan of care, instruct and assist patients in exercises, gait training, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training
- Observe, record, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, and team members on therapy participation
- Visit patients as per the treatment plan and complete daily notes
- Contribute to developing the Plan of Treatment in collaboration with the supervising PT
- Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice
- Report patient progress and responses to the PT
- Assist in procedures and tests to ensure safe and effective evaluation and treatment
Current Requirements:
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in Washington State
- Ability to follow directions from registered therapists and team members
- Ability to work independently with periodic support
