Job summary

Regency Olympia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to provide direct patient care under a Physical Therapist supervision in a skilled nursing setting. You will support treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure safe, effective therapies.

  • Must possess a degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
  • Must maintain a current, unrestricted PTA license in the assigned state.
  • Must be able to follow direction from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient treatment and safety.
  • Must be able to work independently with periodic support and direction.

Responsibilities

  • Assume clinical responsibility for direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
  • Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercises, gait training, ADLs, transfers, and safety.
  • Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment to the supervising PT/nurse/physician.
  • Complete daily notes for each patient visit and assist in developing the Plan of Treatment as needed.
  • Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice and communicate patient progress and changes to the care team.

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assumes clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This is a professional position with the primary responsibility of direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Additional duties of an administrative nature are to be performed as assigned.Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, is at all times responsible to follow all state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in-home care, to follow the treatment set only as defined by the Physical Therapist; to perform only those procedures that he/she is qualified and trained to perform and to make all recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.
You will:
  • Following the plan of care, instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait training, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
  • Observes, records, and reports to the supervising PT, the supervising nurse, and/or the physician the patient’s response to treatment and changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other members of the health care team in the areas of therapy in which they can participate to assist the patient.
  • Visits patient according to Plan of Treatment; complete a daily note for each visit.
  • Participates in developing the Plan of Treatment as needed with communication with the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Adheres to Therapy Standards of Practice in the provision of services to all patients.
  • Reports to the Physical Therapist information relating to the patient’s progress, complication, and/or response to treatment
  • Assist Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatment to ensure the safe, effective evaluation and treatment of patients

You currently:
  • Possess a degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
  • Possess, prior to, onboarding and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in assigned State.
  • Must be able to take direction from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient treatment and safety.
  • Must be able to work independently with periodic (daily or less) support and direction.
