Job Summary: As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you will be responsible for providing patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, in accordance with the State Practice Act. Your training and education will enable you to assist the Physical Therapist in implementing prescribed treatment programs, ensuring quality care for patients.

Required Credentials:

  • Graduation from, or current enrollment in, a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist assistant or physical therapist program. International graduates from non-CAPTE accredited programs must have a substantially equivalent education.
  • A current, valid state license, registration, or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant is required, or candidates must be in the process of obtaining one.

Essential Functions:

  • Adhere to the applicable State Practice Act, following legal guidelines for Physical Therapist Assistants working under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Review the VibrantCare Clinical Operations Policies & Procedures Manual annually and comply with its policies and procedures.
  • Complete all Medicare compliance training as required by regulations and VibrantCare policies.
  • Complete annual Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training and adhere to OSHA and other governmental safety standards.
  • Clean and prepare treatment areas and equipment in line with OSHA guidelines.
  • Implement skilled treatment programs as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Clearly communicate patient activities and feedback to the therapist, both verbally and in writing.
  • Document in patient charts using accepted medical terminology and formats.
  • Complete documentation (daily notes, charge tickets, etc.) accurately and on time to meet facility, physician, and payor deadlines.
  • Maintain respectful communication with co-workers, physicians, patients, family members, third-party payors, and others.
  • Attend and participate in facility meetings, such as utilization reviews, infection control, and disaster preparedness, as directed by the Center Manager.
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education to meet state licensure requirements.
  • Maintain current CPR certification by state licensure requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage time effectively to meet the productivity requirements of the facility.
  • Participate in and present clinical in-services, as directed.
  • Stay current with changes in the healthcare field, particularly those impacting physical therapy practices.
  • Play a key role in specific center operations, as agreed upon with the Center Manager.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Proficient in active listening, reading, and comprehension to analyze reports, charts, and correspondence.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift patients using proper biomedical techniques frequently throughout the workday; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach frequently during a shift.
  • Sufficient visual acuity (near and distant) to maintain accurate records, recognize individuals and follow written instructions.
  • Ability to speak and hear adequately to give and receive directions.
  • Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and the community.
  • Fine motor skills adequate for preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for treatment.
  • Ability to participate in prolonged physical activities in compliance with state labor laws.
