Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Outpatient

What you will do

• Treat patients by using therapeutic and self-care activities and exercise designed to improve function under the direction of the physical therapist (PT)
• Reassess patients' functional ability through various standardized tests, measuring patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, and level of independence with daily activities, and records findings and updates PT
• Administer a designated treatment plan for patients with specific goals and tasks developed by the PT
• Administer treatments involving application of physical agents, such as cold packs, contrast baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, Iontophoresis, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound machines
• Record treatment, responses, and progress in the patient's electronic medical record and prepare reports as indicated by licensure, the PT, the provider, and or insurance recommendations
• Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home
• Complete documentation per clinical / department guidelines and meets expectations of monthly department chart audits
• Complete required orientation as directed by facility
• Promote/educate Organizations Rehabilitation programs to referring physicians, healthcare providers, and or co-workers by performing in-services and/or marketing activities.
• Reduce cancel/no-show rates to improve quality of care and patient outcomes
• Achieve the established average monthly patient care productivity metric

• Ability to utilize therapy equipment in an outpatient rehabilitation setting to provide treatment and procedures

• Ability to respect cultural and religious practices of patients

Licenses and Certifications

• Physical Therapist Assistant - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Required
• Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
