  • Instruct patients and families on home programs and continuation of therapy.

A Brief Overview Responsible for providing a full range of therapeutic services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position's qualification, professional practices, and ethical standards. A physical therapist assistant (PTA) must be able to follow the evaluation of a patient's condition and deliver the customized physical rehabilitation and treatment plan. The physical therapist assistant shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. The employee may have job functions where they will handle and deliver medications based on the requirements of their job in the assigned work facility. The employee will complete other duties as assigned.

What you will do Treat patients by using therapeutic and self-care activities and exercise designed to improve function under the direction of the physical therapist (PT) Reassess patients' functional ability through various standardized tests, measuring patients' strength, motor development, sensory perception, and level of independence with daily activities, and records findings and updates PT Administer a designated treatment plan for patients with specific goals and tasks developed by the PT Administer treatments involving application of physical agents, such as cold packs, contrast baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, Iontophoresis, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound machines Record treatment, responses, and progress in the patients electronic medical record and prepare reports as indicated by licensure, the PT, the provider, and or insurance recommendations Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home Complete documentation per clinical / department guidelines and meets expectations of monthly department chart audits Complete required orientation as directed by facility Promote/educate Organizations Rehabilitation programs to referring physicians, healthcare providers, and or co-workers by performing in-services and/or marketing activities. Reduce cancel/no-show rates to improve quality of care and patient outcomes Achieve the established average monthly patient care productivity metric

Education Qualifications Associate's Degree Required Skills and Abilities Ability to utilize therapy equipment in an outpatient rehabilitation setting to provide treatment and procedures Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts Ability to respect cultural and religious practices of patients

Licenses and Certifications Physical Therapist Assistant - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Required Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required Physical Demand Medium-Heavy Physical Demand
