Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established plan of care.

Responsibilities include:

• Following all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care.
• Performing only procedures for which you are qualified and trained.
• Recommending changes to the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Instructing and aiding patients in exercises, gait, ADL, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observing, recording, and reporting patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician.
• Coordinating care with the healthcare team.
• Educating patients, families, caregivers, and team members within your scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in your state.
• CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
