General Statement Of Duties
Provides direct physical therapy services to individuals under the plan of care set by a Physical therapist. Collaborates with the physical therapist to implement plan of care and completes documentation and other reports as assigned. Reports and documents variations in individuals performance to the supervising physical therapist. Supervises therapy tech or aide. If eligible, acts as clinical instructor for PTA students and/or assist with student labs. Attends all departmental and facility staff meetings as directed. The Physical Therapist Assistant will uphold the mission, philosophy and goals of the organization and department and maintain strict confidentiality of personnel and individuals in the performance of assigned. duties. Other duties as assigned by the Physical Therapist/Lead Physical Therapist.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in Implementation of physical therapy plan of care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Carries out skilled therapy interventions that may include modalities or physical agents with the individuals being served, consults with physical therapist regarding the individuals treatment and progress.
- Documents objective interventions and progress of individuals served.
- May direct and supervise physical therapy aides and student interns as directed.
- Participates in the overall training and supervision of students in physical therapy during their affiliations as assigned.
- Assist with any staff training as directed
- Participates in community outings as designated by the supervising physical therapist to improve functional transitional physical therapy skills
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Physical Therapist Clinical Manager
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be licensed to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the state of Texas. Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association recommended.
Must be CPR certified.
Education
Graduation from a physical therapist assistant curriculum approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Experience
Two years experience working with general neurological and orthopedic trainees/patients preferred.

- Acuity, far - clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
- Acuity, near - clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
- Depth perception - three-dimensional vision. The ability to judge distance and space relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are they actually are.
- Field of vision - the area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while the eyes are fixed on a given point.
- Accommodation - adjustment of the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from the eye.
