Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) implements therapeutic programs under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and other activities of physical therapy.
JOB DUTIES / KNOWLEDGE:
- Coordinates and collaborates with the Physical Therapist and the Rehab Director to ensure integration of the therapeutic program in the plan of care.
- Guides and teaches patients techniques, exercises, or precautions to improve range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, or functional ability, following instructions from the supervising Physical Therapist and physician.
- Observes, records, and reports the patient’s reactions to treatment and any changes in their condition or treatment. Documents patient involvement in decision-making regarding their care.
- Participates in patient case conferences to coordinate the plan of care and promote positive therapeutic outcomes.
- Reports patient complaints of pain, sickness, or unusual reactions to treatment to the Physical Therapist and Coordinator.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sufficient sight and hearing to understand written and verbal communication. Ability to work at least eight (8) hours daily while driving, standing, sitting, assisting patient movement, writing, and speaking.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of a two-year accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Licensed by the Texas State Board to practice as a PTA.
- Preferred: two years of experience in home health.
Travel Requirements:
- Must have a vehicle with current insurance and a valid driver’s license.
