Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instructions, and educates patients to enhance their well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Adhere to state laws governing physical therapy in home care, perform only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommend changes to the supervising PT as needed.
• Instruct and assist patients with active/passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with the healthcare team appropriately.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and team members within your scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements:

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in the state.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
