Job summary

Emporia Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Emporia, VA is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to support patient rehabilitation under the supervision of a licensed PT.

This position offers a flexible schedule and a collaborative team environment dedicated to quality resident care.

Applicants should have a PTA credential and be licensed in Virginia; prior experience in long-term care is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Physical Therapy recognized by the APTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of a PT according to state practice guidelines.
• Assist PT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient’s daily participation and progress on progress notes, obtaining the PT’s co-signature.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, recertifications and discharges.
• Assist with documentation requirements as indicated by state guidelines.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings when indicated by the Supervisor.
• Act as rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Schedule patients as indicated.
• Complete billing and bill patients accurately for services rendered.
• Cover other therapists’ caseload during absences as necessary.
• Supervise junior PTA staff or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, patients and families.
• Provide in-service education about patient care to rehab staff and others as needed.

• Report to work on time, adhere to scheduled hours and project a professional image at all times.
• Adhere to productivity requirements.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by demonstrating and communicating in a professional manner so as to foster positive relations with customers, clients, co-workers and managers.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the department Supervisor, Lead Therapist or Regional Manager.
• Comply with all Facility policies re: lunch, sick and time off notification.
• Adhere to any and all other Facility written and oral policies and procedures.
