Job summary

Emporia Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Emporia, VA is hiring a PTA to provide patient care under the supervision of a physical therapist. The role involves assisting with patient referrals to rehabilitation services and documenting daily progress in the patient records.

You will ensure MD orders for treatments and discharges are secured and participate in regular rehab meetings. The successful candidate will hold a BA or Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy (APTA-recognized) and

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy recognized by the APTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of a PT according to state practice guidelines.
• Assist PT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient’s daily participation and progress on progress notes with co-signature by the PT.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, recertifications and discharges.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings when indicated by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete billing and bill patients ethically and accurately for physical therapy services rendered.
• Cover other therapists’ patient caseload during absences as necessary.
• Supervise junior PTA staff members or students as needed.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of a PT according to state practice guidelines.

• Document patient’s daily participation and progress on progress note in an accurate and timely fashion, and obtain the co-signature of the PT.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, recertification's and discharges.
• Assist with other documentation requirements as indicated and according to state guidelines.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings when indicated by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in scheduling of patients as indicated.
• Complete billing and bill patients ethically and accurately for physical therapy services rendered.
• Cover other therapists’ patient caseload during absence as necessary.
• Supervise junior PTA staff members or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationship with co-workers, facility staff, patients and patient families.
• Provide in-service education regarding patient care or physical therapy services to rehab staff, facility staff, hospitals and/or community as needed.
• Comply with all facility safety policies and procedures.
• Comply with patient confidentiality and Federal Resident Rights.
• Report to work on time, adhere to scheduled hours and project a professional image at all times.
• Adhere to productivity requirements.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by demonstrating and communicating in a professional manner so as to foster positive relations with customers, clients, co-workers and managers.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the department Supervisor, Lead Therapist or Regional Manager.
• Comply with all Facility policies re: lunch, sick and time off notification.
• Adhere to any and all other Facility written and oral policies and procedures.
