Job summary

Emporia Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Emporia, VA is hiring a Part-time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to provide comprehensive treatment under a PT's supervision. The role involves documenting progress, obtaining MD orders, and collaborating with the rehab team.

The ideal candidate holds a BA/AS in Physical Therapy (APTA-recognized) and a current state license/registration. Flexible schedule, competitive wages, and benefits are offered as part of a supportive rehab team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Physical Therapy recognized by the APTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of a PT according to state practice guidelines.
• Assist PT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient’s daily participation and progress on progress note in an accurate and timely fashion, with PT co-signature.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, recertifications and discharges.
• Assist with other documentation requirements as indicated and according to state guidelines.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings when indicated by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in scheduling of patients as indicated.
• Complete billing and bill patients ethically and accurately for physical therapy services rendered.
• Cover other therapists’ patient caseload during absence as necessary.
• Supervise junior PTA staff members or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with coworkers, facility staff, patients and families.
• Provide in-service education regarding patient care or physical therapy services as needed.
• Comply with all facility safety policies and procedures.
• Comply with patient confidentiality and Federal Resident Rights.
• Report to work on time, adhere to scheduled hours and project a professional image.
• Adhere to productivity requirements.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere and foster positive relations with customers and coworkers.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the department Supervisor, Lead Therapist or Regional Manager.
• Adhere to facility policies re: lunch, sick and time off notification.
• Adhere to any and all other Facility written and oral policies and procedures.
