Responsibilities

• The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instructions, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the established care plan.
• Adheres to all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, performs only procedures qualified and trained for, and recommends changes to the supervising PT as needed.
• Instructs and assists patients with active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observes, records, and reports patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician; coordinates care with the healthcare team.
• Educates patients, families, caregivers, and team members within the scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in the state.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.

Additional State Requirements

• MO: No additional state-specific requirements.
