Job summary

Regency Albany, a skilled nursing community in the Willamette Valley, is seeking a Staff Physical Therapist Assistant to provide direct patient care under a Physical Therapist.

You will work as part of an in-house Rehab Care Model, following state laws, and participate in developing treatment plans, while guiding patients and families in therapy activities and safety.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Physical Therapy Assistant degree from an accredited program.
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted PTA license in the applicable state.
  • Ability to follow directions from licensed therapists and work with a care team.
  • Ability to work independently with daily or less supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and assists patients with active and passive exercises and gait training.
  • Records patient responses and notifies supervisor of changes.
  • Educates patient and family on therapy tasks to support participation.
  • Completes daily notes for each visit.
  • Contributes to developing the Plan of Treatment with the supervising PT.
  • Adheres to Therapy Standards of Practice in patient care.
  • Reports patient progress and safety concerns to the supervising PT/ nurse/ physician.

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assumes clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This is a professional position with the primary responsibility of direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Additional duties of an administrative nature are to be performed as assigned. Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, is at all times responsible to follow all state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in-home care, to follow the treatment set only as defined by the Physical Therapist; to perform only those procedures that he/she is qualified and trained to perform and to make all recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.

You Will
  • Following the plan of care, instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait training, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
  • Observes, records, and reports to the supervising PT, the supervising nurse, and/or the physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in the patient's condition.
  • Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other members of the health care team in the areas of therapy in which they can participate to assist the patient.
  • Visits patient according to Plan of Treatment; complete a daily note for each visit.
  • Participates in developing the Plan of Treatment as needed with communication with the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Adheres to Therapy Standards of Practice in the provision of services to all patients.
  • Reports to the Physical Therapist information relating to the patient’s progress, complication, and /or response to treatment
  • Assist Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatment to ensure the safe, effective evaluation and treatment of patients

You Currently
  • Possess a degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
  • Possess, prior to, onboarding and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in assigned State.
  • Must be able to take direction from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient treatment and safety.
  • Must be able to work independently with periodic (daily or less) support and direction.
