Description

Treat patients as directed by a Physical Therapist. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board standards. Assist in maintaining the department and participate in patient care and rehabilitation conferences as needed. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area. Treat patients according to the physician's treatment plan. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides. Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans. Participate in in-service training programs for staff. Record treatment changes following policies and procedures. Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge. Report any equipment problems to ensure proper maintenance. Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and effectively with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.

Supervisory Requirements

This position is non-supervisory.

Qualifications
  1. Education and/or Experience: Licensed as a Staff Physical Therapy Assistant in the state.
  2. Proficient in computer skills, including inputting data into programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
  3. Language Skills: Ability to read technical procedures and manuals; effectively communicate with managers, coworkers, and families.
  4. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  5. Reasoning Ability: Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting various instructions.
  6. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state; must maintain continuing education requirements and licensure in good standing.
Physical Demands

Requires standing, walking frequently; sitting occasionally; reaching, pushing, pulling often; talking, hearing, tasting, smelling frequently; exerting significant force occasionally and frequently; and occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good vision and focus are required.
