Position: Physical Therapist - PRN

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist completes initial assessments, ongoing evaluations, and provides skilled therapeutic interventions to patients using their educational knowledge, skills, and abilities. This may involve outpatients, inpatients, pediatrics, and off-site locations. Services the patients as part of the entire continuum of professional care.

Essential Functions:
  1. Evaluates patients, gathers pertinent information, and develops appropriate treatment plans with specific goals. Responsible for ongoing assessment, treatment efficiency, and plan revisions as needed.

  2. Provides direct therapy following the patient's plan of care and current standards of practice for Physical Therapy. Provides instruction in therapeutic procedures to patients and families.

  3. Maintains accurate records of treatments and patient progress. Documents all care, coordination, orders, goals, etc., in the electronic medical record promptly. Provides timely co-signature for supervised physical therapy assistants, if applicable.

  4. Maintains productivity levels without compromising quality, delivering efficient and effective care that meets or exceeds department standards.

  5. Follows departmental policies on safety, infection control, time off, and time recording, including all necessary education and compliance requirements.

  6. Supervises physical therapist assistants’ interventions and professional growth.

Requirements:

Education: None

Licensing & Certifications:

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the current practicing state or meet qualifications for traineeship or temporary license.
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, or at hire for RSFH).

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in a similar setting (preferred).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Appropriate application of age-specific standards for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patient condition, capabilities, and progress.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public, and healthcare professionals.
  • Critical thinking skills.
