Job Summary


The Physical Therapist reports to the Rehab Services Supervisor 2 for Acute Care Physical Therapy. This entry-level position is designed for new graduates and is responsible for planning, implementing, and providing physical therapy evaluations and treatments as assigned by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The therapist develops, evaluates, and carries out individualized physical therapy programs for patients and demonstrates sound clinical judgment in documentation and patient care-related decisions.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload a license and/or certification if required for the position

  • California Licensed Physical Therapist
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or a UC Davis Health CPR certification
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program (Bachelor's Degree or higher) in the U.S., ormust have completed requirements for foreign-trained Physical Therapists working in the U.S
  • Basic knowledge in Physical Therapy as identified by the Physical Therapy Practice Act and licensure by the State of California
  • Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed Physical Therapist as required and assigned by the supervisory staff of Physical Therapy
  • Ability to exercise good judgment
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with hospital staff in a clear, concise, professional manner
  • Organizational and developmental skills
  • Skills and ability to work in stressful situations
  • Tact and diplomacy skills
  • Ability to provide and accept guidance and criticism
  • Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information such as the patient's medical record
  • Must hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the day
  • Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility
  • Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution
  • Must have basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an Acute care physical therapy setting
  • Experienced in documentation via Electronic Medical Records

Key Responsibilities

  • 90% - Provides physical therapy services as assigned through the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to Acute Care, ICUs, and/ or Inpatient Rehabilitation areas
  • 5% - Educational Activities
  • 5% - Miscellaneous assignments as required
