Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you play a vital role in helping individuals improve their functional abilities to perform everyday activities. Your expertise involves assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient's needs. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine patients' functional status, strengths, and limitations across physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional domains. Use assessment findings to set personalized treatment goals.
  2. Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments, goals, and patient preferences. Use evidence-based interventions to guide patients toward greater independence, productivity, and quality of life.
  3. Patient Education and Training: Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the therapeutic process, adaptive strategies, and techniques to improve function. Provide hands-on training in daily activities, mobility, energy conservation, and assistive device use.
  4. Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Work closely with other healthcare professionals such as COTAs, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, and physicians to coordinate comprehensive care. Effective communication ensures seamless support throughout recovery.
  5. Progress Monitoring and Outcome Measurement: Regularly monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and evaluate outcomes using standardized tools and patient feedback to ensure optimal results.
Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current license or certification in the state of practice
