Job summary

Applied ABC is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to join a Brooklyn-based team dedicated to student-centered care. The PT/PTA will support gross motor development, functional mobility, and safe school access, in collaboration with teachers, BCBAs, and families.

This full-time role offers flexible scheduling options and a small-school setting with meaningful impact, enabling therapists to tailor interventions within ESY or full-year programs for children with diverse learning needs.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New York state.
• Experience with autism or developmental delays preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Passion for inclusive, strengths-based, functional skill-building.
• Team-based, data-driven environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations and contribute to IEP development, focusing on gross motor development and mobility.
• Develop and implement individualized and small-group therapy sessions.
• Collaborate with educators, BCBAs, and families to support safe, functional mobility.
• Develop strategies for safe navigation of the school environment (stairs, bus, playground).
• Provide staff consultation on positioning, mobility techniques, and safe lifting/transfers.
• Monitor progress and document in line with state and school policies.

Who We’re Looking For

Physical Therapist (PT/DPT or PTA) The ideal candidate is creative, collaborative, and student-centered—ready to support learners in developing the functional mobility, gross motor skills, and balance needed for success across all learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations and contribute to IEP development with a focus on gross motor development, functional mobility, and safe environmental access.
• Develop and implement individualized and small-group physical therapy sessions.
• Collaborate closely with educators, BCBAs, and families to support safe and functional mobility and independence.
• Develop strategies for safe navigation of the school environment (e.g., stairs, bus, playground).
• Provide consultation to staff on proper positioning, mobility techniques, and safe lifting/transferring to support students’ needs throughout the school day.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and school policies.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist (PT/DPT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state of New York.
• Experience working with children with autism or developmental delays (preferred).
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Passion for inclusive, strengths-based, and functional skill-building.
