Job summary

The Orthopedic Department at Children's Hospital Colorado seeks a Physical Therapist I to join Highlands Ranch Therapy. This entry-level CAP role provides evaluation, treatment, follow-up, and documentation for pediatric patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.

You will supervise PT aides/students and educate families, coordinating care with physicians, therapists, and schools across our six sites. This role emphasizes evidence-based practice and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy or related field.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers / CPR.
  • State of Colorado DORA Physical Therapist license; credentialing within 3 months.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with family, physicians, schools, and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
  • Completes written documentation per department standards.
  • Independently evaluates patients with various diagnoses in inpatient/outpatient units; integrate cultural-competence and family-centered care.
  • Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
  • Demonstrates leadership and participates in professional development to improve clinical, educational, research and advocacy goals.
  • Provides consultation and education to families.
  • Treat children across the continuum in inpatient/outpatient units and community; seeks mentoring for complex diagnoses.

Job Overview

The Orthopedic Department at Children's Hospital Colorado strives to provide focused, expert care across many diagnoses to youth in our region. Our physical therapists partner with providers across the Orthopedic Institute to provide excellent orthopedic care at our 6 locations. Physical therapists on this team are experts at providing evaluation and treatment of patients with general orthopedic diagnoses including but not limited to neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle diagnoses, concussion, vestibular disorders, scoliosis, hypermobility/hypermobility spectrum disorder, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, chronic pain, and functional neurologic disorder. Our therapists provide family centered care and are expected to coordinate care with patients, families, therapy aides, physical therapy assistants (where applicable), physicians, advanced practice providers, and students. This program has a strong emphasis on evidence‑based practice and collaboration across the 6 sites. The right fit for our team is someone who has orthopedic experience, works well in a team setting and is committed to patients and their families.

The Physical Therapist I provides physical therapy services including evaluation, treatment and follow up and documentation using general competencies for inpatient and outpatient children referred to the physical therapy department. Provide supervision for PT aides/assistants and students with specific tasks and/or patients. Provide continuous consultation and education to families. The Physical Therapist I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP)

  • Job Details: 1.0 FTE; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits
  • Shift: Weekdays, four 10 hour days or five 8 hour days
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location, and time frames.
  • Independently evaluates patients with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural‑competence and family‑centered care into clinical services.
  • Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
  • Demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
  • Provides consultation and education to families.
  • Treat children across the continuum, with a variety of diagnoses, in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units and in the community. Incorporates principles of cultural‑competence and family‑centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy or related field of study
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers / CPR
    • State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Physical Therapist license; Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $87,095.44 to $130,643.17

Incentives: This role is eligible for relocation for qualified candidates.
