Job summary

Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific is seeking a Physical Therapist for both inpatient and outpatient settings in Hawaii. The role focuses on evaluating patients, designing and implementing plans of care, and collaborating with the therapy team to achieve patient goals.

  • Evaluates patient for therapy services.

  • Delegates treatment activities to PTAs, Rehabilitation Technicians and other support staff as appropriate. Provides instruction and monitors staff’s performance of activities.
  • Documents timely and appropriately, in compliance with regulatory, third party payor and REHAB standards, and monitors PTA documentation on a timely basis.
  • Actively involves patient/caregiver in assuring that mutual discharge goals are met.
  • Recommends home modification and durable medical equipment (DME) needs, as appropriate.

Job description

Position Title: Physical Therapist (Inpatient and Outpatient)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Therapy

Reports To: Manager of Therapy, Director of Therapy

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Physical Therapist (PT), you will help to ensure that REHAB patients and their families receive caring and dedicated service at REHAB. You will provide support for the Therapy Department and assist with a variety of services with a commitment to delivering high-quality, comprehensive and innovative inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. These services include interpreting physician’s orders, performing evaluations and assessments; designing and implementing plans of care; maintaining treatment and progress reports; drafting and/or presenting oral or written reports of patient’s status; collaborating with team members toward reaching patient’s goals.

Wage Range: $83,208.32/year to $124,812.48/year.

The actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification/Licensure:
  • Current State of Hawaii PT licensure.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Completion of competencies and other job-related and REHAB requirements.
Education:
  • Graduate from an APTA accredited school of Physical Therapy
Skills/Experience:
  • Ability to safely and effectively manage patients’ mobility.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to see and hear to safely provide care to patients.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Experience:
  • For Inpatient: One (1) year physical rehabilitation experience.
  • For Outpatient: Minimum two (2) years physical rehabilitation experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Completes prescription and assures receipt of appropriate DME/adaptive aids.
  • Orients and trains patients/caregivers for self care skills.
  • Follows and enforces Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Uses sound judgment and ensures patient safety.
  • Follows and adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and guidelines, code of conduct, and REHAB employee handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
