Job summary

Sedgwick County Health Center in Colorado is seeking a Physical Therapist to evaluate and plan treatment based on physician referrals and standards. The role requires supervising PT assistants and coordinating with patients and families for care planning and discharge.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Physical Therapy (Master's/Doctorate preferred) and 2 years' inpatient/outpatient experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy required; Master's or Doctorate preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in inpatient and outpatient setting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain medical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits and discharge planning and appropriate equipment use.
  • Supervises and delegates care provided by physical therapy assistants.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Aligns duties with the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Job description

This positionis responsible forthe evaluation, planning, administration, and supervision of Physical Therapy treatmentin accordance withphysician referral, state and national organizational standards, regulatory agencies, andestablisheddepartmental policies and procedures. This positiondemonstratesthe clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatmentappropriate tothe age of the patients served.

  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/orassistswith patient discharge from therapy services and treatmentsetting. Provides information regardingappropriate selection/useof adaptive equipment and support programs.
  • Supervises and delegates the care provided by physical therapy assistants according to established licensing laws, stateregulationsand practice standards.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Performs duties in line with the organization's mission, vision, and values, and strives to elevate them every day.

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations including medical emergencies and communicating with patients and their families.

  • Reaching, bending,lifting more than50lbs.,grasping, fine motor skills, pushing and pulling.Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Well-lit, ventilated, temperature-controlled environment.Possible hazardsinclude a busy and stressful environment, long hours, and exposure to bio-hazardous waste, body fluids, chemicals, electrical devices, toxic waste, needles, and moving machinery.
