RTX BBN Technologies, a high-tech research & development company, seeks a creative self-starter that is organized, hands-on, and people-centered to fill the role of Physical Systems Engineer in our Physical Sciences & Systems (PS2) business unit.
This position is for a multi-functional professional in at least two of the following engineering fields; systems, mechanical, electrical, software, chemical, and industrial. The individual will support requirements development and analysis, design, physical fabrication and assembly, process development, technical evaluation of systems ranging in maturity from conceptual to high TRL products, and the generation of technical documentation. The ideal candidate will possess a proven background in integrated systems design, technical data package development, and a robust methodology for performing organized and traceable iterative design and evaluation cycles.
A successful individual possesses the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively within a small development team to identify, prioritize, and execute tasks that align with project objectives. Project topics include, but are not limited to, shipboard systems, unmanned platforms and payloads, and complex sensing and data collection systems. The candidate shall have the aptitude to manage and track multiple parallel technical activities. This position will generally require 4 days on-site per week.
This position will require some domestic travel (up to 10%).
Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret US government issued security clearance is required.
Experience in organizing and executing multidiscipline system design and evaluation.
