Job summary

ExxonMobil in Spring, Texas is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform routine and non-routine tests to determine physical, chemical and elemental properties of materials, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with safety and quality standards. The role requires a B.S.

in Chemistry or related field and hands-on experience with ICP, XRF, CHN, UV/Vis, titration, and related methods; familiarity with ASTM/ISO standards; strong analytical and teamwork skills; 3+ years preferred; attractive

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with ICP and associated digestion techniques, XRF, CHN, UV/Vis, titration, density, flashpoint, MCR, KF Water, etc.
  • Familiarity with ASTM and ISO Standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non‑routine tests to determine physical, chemical, and elemental properties of materials
  • Ensure accurate data collection, proper operation of laboratory instruments, adherence to safety and quality standards, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and records
  • Receive, log, label, store and track samples according to laboratory protocols
  • Utilize available tools and systems to ensure efficient workflows (e.g., LIMS)
  • Operate and monitor laboratory instruments and analytical equipment
  • Perform routine calibration, cleaning and basic maintenance
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with supervisors or service providers
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs and maintenance records
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, chemical hygiene plans and PPE requirements
  • Comply with quality management systems (e.g., ISO, GLP, internal QC standards)
  • Assist with audits, inspections and corrective actions
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe laboratory workspace

What role you will play
  • Perform routine and non‑routine tests to determine physical, chemical, and elemental properties of materials
  • Ensure accurate data collection, proper operation of laboratory instruments, adherence to safety and quality standards, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and records
  • Receive, log, label, store and track samples according to laboratory protocols

About You
Skills & Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field

  • Familiarity with ASTM and ISO Standards

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience with physical testing methods or elemental analysis instrumentation is highly desirable
  • Ability to multitask
