Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, execution of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  • Implement a student evaluation system within the guidelines prescribed by law or district policy.
  • Evaluate and record students’ progress regularly and communicate with parents as needed.
  • Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject and grade level.
  • Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and prepare substitute lesson plans.
  • Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  • Offer counseling to students and parents before and after school hours.
  • Participate in community engagement activities such as open houses and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
  • Coordinate the work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  • Work with the principal to develop and participate in evaluation procedures based on district guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and compile all required reports and documentation.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. Frequently reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stand and walk. Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The environment typically has moderate noise levels. Travel within the district is required. Remote work arrangements are not available for campus-based roles, as regular attendance and presence at the worksite are essential.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with appropriate endorsements for the assigned subject and level
