A 4-year college degree in early education, kinesiology, therapeutic recreation, or human development is preferred. Consideration will be given to a candidate’s education and experience.
The Physical Education Teacher is to treat each child with love, recognizing that each and every one is a child of God. Because we are taught that the human body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, we are commissioned to take care of the temples that God has created. In physical education, we can do this by teaching students about healthy living and inspiring them to enjoy being active. The teacher should organize fun, attention-grabbing activities, such as games and competitions, to keep students active during class. Preschool is an opportunity to develop skills that will be used not only in elementary school but throughout the students' lives. The teacher will also cultivate good social and emotional development through teaching good sportsmanship.
The teacher will work two days a week teaching classes for children aged 2½ to 5 years old, with 6 to 10 students per class. Regular attendance is expected. The position includes 2 days of paid leave per school year. St. Anne’s follows the City of Salem School system regarding holidays and snow days. The contract includes 5 teacher work days: 4 before the school year begins in August/September and 1 after the school year ends in May.
