Job description

Morgan Park Academy is seeking to add a full-time Physical Education Teacher to our faculty for the 2025-26 school year.

Founded in 1873, Morgan Park Academy is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school in Chicago dedicated to preparing students to pursue the highest levels of educational excellence with an emphasis on independent thinking and global leadership.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan and instruct physical education classes for PreK-12 students emphasizing safety, fun, and skill development.
2. Evaluate and assess student performance in physical education classes.
3. Coordinate annual ‘Gym Show’ for grades PreK-5.
4. Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents about student progress.
5. Participate actively in the school community, which may include coaching middle or upper school team sports.
6. Maintain good professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues.
7. Commit to personal growth through active participation in professional development.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
2. Three years relevant teaching experience, with lower school experience a plus.
3. CPR, AED, First Aid certification, with instructor certification a plus.
4. A record of integrity and the ability to inspire students and athletes to perform at a high level.
5. Strong leadership, motivational, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
6. Computer literacy and technological proficiency.
7. Effective classroom management skills.
8. True passion for teaching.
