Responsibilities
As a Physical Designer, you will be working in a project team environment with engineers and other designers involved in high and extra high voltage substation design.

- Substation Section Views (Elevations)
- Substation Detailed Bill of Material
- Substation Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan
- Substation Grounding Plan
- Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details
- Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan
- Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section
Other Responsibilities
- Develop network architecture designs based on TDM, SONET, IP/MPLS and other relevant standards
- Prepare network and channel diagrams and perform timing studies
- Design fail‑safe systems with path & equipment redundancies & diversity to serve mission‑critical operations with extreme reliability
- Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables
- Perform walk‑downs at client facilities
- Apply client standards related to the work
- Mentor other designers and drafters
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of spending three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.
Dependent upon your location, this opportunity offers a generous relocation package.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of telecommunication and/or substation physical design experience
- An Associate’s Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience
- Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation)
- Ability to visualize equipment details, phase‑to‑ground and phase‑to‑phase clearances
- Telecommunications project or systems design experience in radio, fiber optics and/or network engineering
- Ability to multi‑task from project to project
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (speak, read, and write)

Valued Knowledge/Skills
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Aided Design
- Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design
