PHP Developer - Onsite Cincinnati, OH

Required Skills

• 5+ years of software engineering development experience
• Strong, recent hands-on development with PHP 8
• Proven experience remediating security vulnerabilities, including Mend (Mend.io) vulnerability work (including high-severity findings, e.g., 8.0+), and reducing security exposure across PHP applications
• Experience with secure coding practices (authentication/authorization, input validation, data protection) and familiarity with OWASP Top 10
• Experience maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting legacy PHP applications, including modernization approaches (converting PHP/jQuery-based functionality to modern front-end patterns where appropriate)
• Experience with REST APIs, modern web application development, and Git
• Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL
• Proven experience writing automated tests (unit/integration/end-to-end) and applying TDD principles

Nice to Have Skills

• Angular (17+) experience, including Standalone Components, Signals, and modern control flow syntax
• Node.js, NPM
• jQuery, CodeIgniter, or other legacy PHP frameworks
• Experience modernizing monoliths and migrating functionality from PHP to Angular/Node.js
• Experience with security tooling such as CodeQL and SonarQube, plus supporting vulnerability remediation and penetration testing efforts
• Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and containerized deployments
• Cloud experience with Azure (especially if you’ve deployed applications end-to-end yourself) and/or AWS
• Enterprise identity integrations: OAuth, OIDC, SAML
• Experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and CI/CD practices
• Familiarity with GitHub Copilot

Preferred Education and Experience

• 5+ years professional software development experience (required)
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred (equivalent practical experience welcomed)
