Job summary

Ryther Child Center is seeking a Behavior Specialist for PHP/IOP and Residential programs in Seattle. You will support clients in daily activities, facilitate groups, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to meet individualized treatment goals.

The role involves direct care, documentation, and care coordination within a trauma-informed, equity-centered framework across multiple care levels, with on-site shifts and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a mental health field preferred; alternative is HS diploma/GED with 1+ year experience with children/youth/families.
  • Commitment to applying social justice and equity in work.
  • Ability to drive and operate agency vehicles is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily program activities and skills groups.
  • Support clients in learning coping skills and emotional regulation.
  • Assist clients toward individualized treatment goals.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and professional boundaries.
  • Complete daily clinical documentation per state/federal regulations.
  • Coordinate case management with external providers.

Join Ryther as a Behavior Specialist in our Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient & Residential (FIRS) Programs!

We are expanding programs across multiple levels of care and are hiring Full-Time, Part-Time, and On-Call Behavior Specialists to join our multidisciplinary teams.

Behavior Specialists have the opportunity to work in one or more of the following programs:

  • Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)
Position Summary:

Our Behavior Specialists create and maintain a positive, safe, and therapeutic environment while supporting clients in meeting their individualized treatment goals.

This role provides direct client care, facilitates therapeutic groups, supports daily program routines, and collaborates within a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Primary Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Facilitate and support daily program activities, including skills groups, meals/snacks, and outings
  • Support clients in learning coping skills, emotional regulation, and behavior management
  • Assist clients in progressing toward individualized treatment goals
  • Promote a safe, affirming, and therapeutic environment
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
  • Role model healthy communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Complete daily clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Case management and care coordination with external community and court providers.
  • Assist with daily routines and client care tasks, including meal preparation when applicable
  • Participate in ongoing training (eating disorders, neurodiversity, anxiety, OCD, DBT-informed care, etc.)
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
  • Additional responsibilities may vary depending on the assigned program.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (mental health field preferred) OR High School diploma/GED with at least one year of combined education, training, or experience working with children, youth, and/or families (preferably in a mental health setting)
  • Valid Washington State driver's license
  • Good driving record and ability to drive agency vehicles
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse cultural, spiritual, and lifestyle backgrounds
  • Commitment to applying a social justice and equity lens to all aspects of work
Preferred Experience:
  • Eating disorders
  • Neurodivergent youth
  • Anxiety and OCD
  • DBT-informed care
  • Higher levels of behavioral health treatment (PHP, IOP, Residential, FIRS)
  • Teens and/or at-risk youth
Schedule Options:
  • On-Call: (Day, swing, and night shifts available depending on program needs)
  • PHP Full-Time: Monday-Thursday 7:30-6pm

Schedules vary by program and level of care.

Full benefits are available for Part-Time and Full-Time positions. On-Call positions are not eligible for benefits with the exception of sick time, free medical telehealth appointments, and 403b retirement plan.
