Job summary

The Research Foundation for SUNY in Albany, NY is seeking a Photonics Test Development Engineer to own the measurement of photonic devices and circuits for internal and external customers. You will develop test setups, analyze data, and present results with strong communication across customer and vendor teams.

Based in Albany, this role requires collaboration across projects, lab and clean room environments, and driving new testing methodologies with test equipment vendors.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD with 3-10 years in a related technical area.
• Experience measuring RF performance of photonics structures (S-parameters, eye diagrams).
• Experience working in a lab environment and with customers/vendors.
• Ability to develop drivers and automation scripts for measurements.
• Experience analyzing data and using statistical tools.

Responsibilities

• Measure photonic devices and circuits using test equipment (BERT, AWG, optical analyzers).
• Develop new measurement setups based on customer requirements.
• Extract and analyze key performance parameters from measured data.
• Prepare reports summarizing analysis results.
• Support multiple projects concurrently with scheduling and reliability.
• Work in lab spaces and clean room facilities, following safety rules.
• Coordinate with customers and vendors for test scopes and methodologies.
