Job summary

The Thorlabs Lafayette, CO site seeks a Photonics Engineer II to drive innovation in applications and systems development for high‑performance optical cavities and locking technologies. You will collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver robust products and metrology capabilities, interfacing with customers to ensure successful outcomes.

Required is BS in optics/physics with 6+ years experience; MS/PhD preferred.

Qualifications

• BS with 6+ years relevant industry experience.
• 4–8 years post‑graduate experience (industry preferred) with an advanced degree.

Responsibilities

• Guide new products from concept to production and support.
• Develop advanced characterization and metrology capabilities for coating performance and substrate characterization.
• Interface with customers to provide technical support for optical assemblies.
• Coordinate design, assembly, verification, and documentation of optical cavities and advanced systems.
• Produce test reports and maintain traceability of measurements.
