Job summary

Great Sky, Inc. in Boulder, CO seeks a Photonics Process Development Engineer to advance cryogenic photonic networks and SiN-based devices.

You will own prototype fabrication in a research cleanroom and develop manufacturable processes for integrated photonic and superconducting devices. You will characterize unit processes with SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, and profilometry, and collaborate with design, test, and packaging teams to speed up the build‑test‑learn cycle.

Qualifications

• Hands-on fabrication experience in micro/nanofabrication or semiconductor processing.
• Experience fabricating devices on silicon photonics, silicon nitride, or superconducting electronics.
• Hands-on experience with core cleanroom processes (e-beam/optical lithography, thin-film deposition, RIE).
• Experience with process metrology tools (SEM, AFM, ellipsometry, profilometry).
• Track record of developing, documenting, and troubleshooting fabrication processes using data.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end prototype fabrication runs in a research cleanroom environment.
• Develop, run, and optimize manufacturable fabrication processes for integrated photonic and superconducting devices.
• Develop and characterize unit processes (lithography, deposition, etching, planarization).
• Perform in-line and post-fabrication metrology to control critical dimensions and film properties.
• Define and maintain design rules and PDk data; write SOPs and Processes of Record (POR).
