Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking an Optical Engineer to join our R&D team to deliver state-of-the-art near-to-eye display system technologies. The role emphasizes integrated photonics device design and metrology, with a Ph.D. or equivalent industry experience.

You will design PICs, generate fabrication-ready layouts, and support the full design-to-fabrication pipeline, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external partners to meet program objectives.

Qualifications

• MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Sciences, Physics, or closely related field.
• 3+ years designing, simulating, and laying out PICs for visible/IR wavelengths.
• 2+ years with PIC tapeouts at a commercial foundry.
• Experience with photonic device simulation and EM modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and optimize Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) and photonic devices.
• Prepare fabrication-ready layouts, comply with foundry PDKs.
• Coordinate design-to-fabrication pipeline with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Collaborate with leadership and researchers to align designs with program goals.
