Keysight Laboratories in Santa Clara, CA invites a Photonic Integrated Circuit Researcher. The role is onsite, full-time, requiring a completed Ph.D. in photonics or a related field.
You will design, simulate, lay out, and characterize photonic integrated circuits, linking optical waveguide theory to real device performance. You will conduct hands-on measurements, interpret results, and translate research into hardware and software demonstrations.
Photonic Integrated Circuit Researcher
Location: Santa Clara, California
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Employment Type: Full-Time
Required Education: Completed Ph.D. in a relevant field
Experience: Research experience in integrated photonics; candidate details list 2–5 years
The ideal candidate is a Ph.D.-qualified photonics researcher with strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience designing, simulating, laying out, and characterizing photonic integrated circuits.
A strong candidate should be able to connect optical waveguide theory with real-world device performance, perform hands‑on laboratory measurements, interpret experimental results, and translate research concepts into practical hardware and software demonstrations.
Candidates with experience in PIC foundry tape-outs, circuit-level simulation, RF or microwave design, packaging, or Python-based lab automation will have additional strengths.
The Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Researcher will invent, develop, simulate, design, and validate advanced integrated photonic technologies at Keysight Laboratories. This role combines measurement science, optical waveguide theory, PIC design, simulation, layout, and hands‑on component characterization.
The researcher will investigate emerging technologies, develop innovative measurement concepts, implement solutions in hardware and software, and demonstrate technical feasibility. Successful innovations may be transferred to Keysight business units for integration into commercial products.
The position requires a strong theoretical and practical understanding of integrated photonics, a research-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams. This role is onsite in Santa Clara, California, and relocation assistance may be available for an ideal candidate.
