Journal Communications, Inc. is seeking a full-time Photo Assistant to manage multimedia for our digital brands in the Franklin, TN area. The role supports Livability.com and other sites, coordinating asset requests and keeping our digital assets well organized.

Qualifications include an associate's degree or equivalent, strong visual eye, and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and MS Office. The position offers hybrid work hours in CST.

Responsibilities

• Serve as main point of contact for asset requests for Livability.com and other sites.
• Source, traffic and quality check visual assets (photos, video, illustration, graphics).
• Support staff and freelance photographers with credentials requests, outreach, transfers.
• Catalog assets in the DAM with accurate metadata and usage history.
• Uphold asset storage, organization guidelines and DAM cleanup.
• Crop, resize and prepare assets for various media and WordPress population.
• Assist creative teams with photo shoot planning and shot lists.

We’re Journal Communications, Inc., a media company based in Franklin, Tenn., and we are seeking a full-time Photo Assistant to manage multimedia for our digital brands. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply; we have an established training system for our creative team.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

• Become the main point of contact for asset requests for Livability.com and our other websites.
• Source, traffic and quality check visual assets, including photography, video, illustration and graphics.
• Support staff and freelance photographers through press credentials requests, photo subject outreach, image transfer, etc.
• Catalog assets within global Digital Asset Management system in an accurate, consistent and timely manner: Metadata, history usage, DAM cleanup
• Uphold asset usage, storage and organization guidelines.
• Crop, size and prepare assets for various media channels, including direct population into WordPress
• Help creative team plan and schedule photo shoots
• Build photo/video shot lists
• Color correction/image editing experience is a plus!
• Video editing experience is a big plus!

Requirements

• Strong visual eye with the ability to quickly evaluate quality imagery
• Associate's degree or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, WordPress and the iOS platform
• Extremely well organized with good problem-solving skills
• Positive and proactive attitude and passion for the job
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed
• Proven ability to work quickly and effectively with very strong attention to detailUnderstanding of file formats, metadata standards, and best asset organization practices
• Solid understanding of digital web production and emerging AI tools
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

This position is based in the Franklin/Nashville, TN, area and will follow a hybrid schedule.
