Job description

WSYM, the E.W. Scripps Fox affiliate in Lansing, Michigan, is looking for its next Photographer II to capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms. The Photographer II will also be responsible for operating various news gathering equipment, including but not limited to microwave live trucks, video cameras, and video editing equipment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  1. Capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms.
  2. Operate and maintain live equipment including microwave, satellite, and related news gathering equipment.
  3. Work in tandem with newsroom personnel to create and develop news stories.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  1. Associates degree in a related discipline preferred.
  2. Generally 2+ years of experience in a related field preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  1. Proficiency with lighting and computer-based editing.
  2. Proficiency with live microwave truck operation.
  3. Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, and libel laws.
  4. Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the station's websites.
  5. Able to work efficiently under multiple deadlines on a daily basis.
  6. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  7. Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required limits.
