Job summary

WESH 2 News, a Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in Orlando, seeks a self-motivated Local News Photographer to shoot and edit compelling stories across broadcast and digital platforms. You will handle modern ENG gear, assist reporters, and deliver high-quality video and audio under tight deadlines.

The role requires strong editing skills (Adobe Premiere), camera operation on various platforms, and flexibility with weekend/holiday schedules to cover breaking and daily stories in Central Florida.

Qualifications

• Training in the art of video photojournalism.
• Professional or college newsroom experience.
• Carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Experience with ENG trucks.
• Drone Certification preferred.
• Operates editing tools and CNN platforms; strong journalism ethics.

Responsibilities

• Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs and packages for broadcast air and digital.
• Cover daily stories with Assignment Desk and Reporters.
• Shoot on assigned professional camera equipment.
• Gather video and still pictures for digital platforms.
• Edit in Adobe Premiere and feed completed work to the station.
• Coordinate incoming video elements with field crews and desks.
• Publish content to our online platforms.
• Maintain gear/equipment and stay flexible on weekends/holidays.

Local News Photographer

WESH 2 News, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliatein Orlando,is looking for a self-motivated news photojournalist who is ready to hustle and win the day. We are seeking a highly skilled individual eager to capture the essence of what’s happening in Central Florida, a place packed with busy theme parks, launches along the Space Coast, and miles of beaches. This photojournalist must be able to tell compelling stories in his or her community in a deadline-driven environment through high-quality video and audio elements. They must be tech savvy and proficient in the most modern aspects of our visual medium as they shoot, edit, and execute live shots for multiple stories. An excellent eye for video and the highest journalistic standards are a must.

Responsibilities

• Shooting and editing of VOs, VO-SOTs and packages for broadcast air and digital via Sony XD Can, Canon Lenses,GoPro, iPhone, and Adobe Premiere
• Work with the Assignment Desk and Reporters to cover daily stories
• Shoot on assigned professional camera equipment
• Gathering video and still pictures for digital platforms.
• Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station
• Work with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered
• Work with producers to ensure their creative vision is accomplished with vivid video and natural sound
• Communicating andcoordinate incoming video elements from crews in the field to the Assignment Desk and Editors
• Work with catalog systems to save/store, record and locate necessary video
• Produce and publish content to our online platforms
• Organization and attention to gear/equipment maintenance
• Must be flexible with scheduling on weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Training in the art of video photojournalism
• Professional or college experience in a newsroom
• Carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
• Experience with ENG trucks
• Drone Certification, Sat Truck and Chopper experience preferred
• Can work in all weather conditions
• Can operate large vehicles, have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Must operate digital editing tools
• Must have computer and software experience; knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms
• Can organize and prioritize
• Have and exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
• Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
• Related military experience will be considered
