Job summary

WESH, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in Orlando, is seeking a Reporter who can generate story ideas, conduct informed interviews and build live shot capabilities. The ideal candidate actively pursues enterprise reporting and develops sources to break big stories while meeting tight deadlines.

You will report to the manager and work with a photographer as needed, delivering accurate, compelling copy and compelling multimedia content for day-of news and special projects.

Qualifications

• Professional or college reporting experience.
• Experience with enterprise reporting and the ability to uncover details.
• Demo reel that reflects everyday work.
• Ability to write clear, correct and compelling copy that supports gathered images.
• Ability to operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.
• Ability to manage the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
• Related military experience will be considered.

We value strong enterprise reporting and are looking for someone who finds the stories that lead newscasts. In addition to credibility, poise and personality, this reporter is not afraid to head into the field, ask tough questions and break big stories. This position requires a versatile, enterprising self-starter who is fast, efficient, works well under tight deadlines, can develop sources and has excellent live reporting skills.
