Job summary

CustomMade in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Photographer to join our in-house team. You will shoot product photography and video for rings and jewelry, ensuring consistent styling, lighting, and color accuracy across catalogs and ads.

The role blends creative storytelling with fast turnaround to showcase custom pieces. The position is in-office, available part time or full time (up to 40 hours/week), with competitive hourly pay and full benefits for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Experience with product photography for jewelry or small objects.
• Proficiency with Canon cameras and post-processing in Lightroom/Photoshop.
• Strong eye for detail to fix reflections and lighting in jewelry photography.

Responsibilities

• Photograph finished rings and jewelry in studio with consistent staging and backgrounds.
• Edit images to ensure color accuracy and detail in Lightroom/Photoshop.
• Produce product videos with GemLoupe and other equipment for ads and social channels.
• Coordinate with Production Specialists, Project Managers, and Marketing to fulfill photo requests.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

At CustomMade, photography shows up at every stage of the customer journey. It's often how people find us in the first place: our photos and videos fill our ads and social feeds and make the case for going custom. Once a customer starts designing, our photo library becomes their inspiration. Our Project Managers share images from it to show what's possible and help customers settle on a design that feels like theirs. And when the ring is finished, our photos are the first time customers get to see it. They've put in the trust, the time, and the money, and we want that reveal to feel as special as the ring itself.

As a Photographer on our in-house team, you'll shoot every piece with the same care, whether it's ring #2 or ring #200. Most of your time will go to product photography and video, getting beautiful, consistent images to customers quickly. We also make room for creative work, like group shots, styled single rings, and photos that tell a story.

Essential role duties look like:

Product photography

• Photograph finished rings and other jewelry in our studio using consistent staging, brand-color backgrounds, a light box, and props
• Edit images in Lightroom and Photoshop so every stone, metal, and detail looks its best and true to life
• Work through the photo queue efficiently so customers see their finished pieces quickly
• Stage creative shots for our website, paid ads, and organic Instagram and TikTok profiles

Product video

• Shoot standardized product video with the GemLoupe to show customers their rings with a little more sparkle
• Experiment with video as we push to grow our videos from customer-facing, operational clips into polished content for ads and social

Cross-team communication

• Coordinate with Production Specialists and Project Managers to ensure any ad hoc photo requests are met
• Work closely with Marketing to keep a pulse on how to continue pushing the business forward through our photography

This is an in-office role, available part time or full time (up to 40 hours/week).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Hourly rate of $23-25/hour, depending on experience and qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Product photography experience
• Experience with Canon cameras
• Experience with Lightroom and Photoshop
• A sharp eye for detail: you notice and fix any stray reflections, shadows, etc.
• Creativity and the initiative to bring your own ideas to a shoot
• Preferred but not required
  • Experience photographing engagement rings and other shiny, reflective objects
  • Experience creating video content for social media
  • Experience with the GemLoupe
