Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venous and capillary collections, verify patient information, and enter orders in the LIS as per the MedStar Laboratory Compliance Plan.

Required is a High School diploma or GED and completion of a phlebotomy course; a 1-year phlebotomy experience is preferred. CPT certification and a valid Maryland driver’s license are considered a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy course required.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to safety standards and regulations.
• Collects blood from patients according to policies and procedures.
• Label specimens immediately after collection and enter orders into LIS as required.
• Maintain a sanitary work area and assist with equipment maintenance.
• Assist in training new associates and respond to inquiries professionally.
