Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a skilled phlebotomist for a Phlebotomy Float Pool in the Greater Winston Salem Market. This PRN role travels across locations, providing expert collections and patient care while supporting teams and maintaining quality standards.

You will mentor staff, ensure accurate specimen collection, and contribute to a positive patient experience in a dynamic, varied work environment.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of Phlebotomy experience is required.
• Advanced phlebotomy skills with strong practical ability.
• Certification by ASCP, ASPT, AMT or NHA is required.
• Demonstrates flexibility, confidence and positive team spirit.

• Serve as a trusted resource across multiple sites and departments.
• Lead by example in complex collections, patient interactions, and workflow efficiency.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Relevant phlebotomy experience.
• Experience: 3 years of experience, required.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification by ASCP, ASPT, AMT or NHA, required.
• Additional Skills (required): New hire phlebotomist must obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment. Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results. Skilled in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skilled in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to work independently. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to communicate clearly.
