Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a PRN phlebotomist to join our laboratory team in Baltimore, MD. Weekend shifts may run 4am-12:30pm with hours varying by department needs.

Expect venous and capillary collections, glucose testing, and data entry to register and accession orders in our LIS system. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, completion of an approved phlebotomy course, and ideally 6 months of phlebotomy experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of Hospital approved phlebotomy course.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venous and capillary collections and glucose testing.
• Verifies patient insurance and registers data for orders.
• Labels specimens accurately and maintains LIS entries.
• Maintains sanitary work area and assists with equipment maintenance.
• Participates in department meetings and community outreach efforts.
