Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Phlebotomist Technician (PRN) at the Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center. You will join the Medical Laboratory Team and help ease patient anxiety during blood draws while ensuring proper specimen collection and handling.

This PRN position may involve floating to other locations for coverage and offers opportunities for ongoing education and professional development through Cleveland Clinic resources.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures and venipuncture.
• Verify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood.
• Label all specimens and deliver to the appropriate processing area.
• Perform specimen processing and related tasks (accessioning, centrifugation, packaging).
• Pick up and deliver blood and other lab supplies.

As a PhlebotomistTechnician, you are an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. Many patients often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. Using your experience and skills, you can help put the patient at ease while obtaining all the required specimens. Due to this being a PRN role,you may float to other locations for coverage.While helping enhance the care experience, you can also explore the countless educational and professional development resources offered by Cleveland Clinic, including online courses, in-persontrainingsandmore.

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days| 6:00am—8:00pm or 7:30am—12:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipunctureproceduresand maintain appropriate log sheets.

• Verify order requests andidentifyinformation prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.

• Label all specimens collected and deliver them to theappropriate processingarea.

• Perform specimen processing and send out tasks,including accessioning,centrifugationand packaging.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Technicalproficiencywith standard procedures,techniquesand common practices

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Formal Phlebotomy Certification

• Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship

Physical Requirements:

• Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
• Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
