Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Medical terminology desirable.
• General knowledge of phlebotomy terminology and good computer skills.
• Ability to review and understand department and Hospital manuals and procedures to perform duties.
• Clerical perception, attention to detail and finger dexterity for data transcription.

Responsibilities

• Maintain phlebotomy tray in sanitary condition and ensure materials are ready.
• Perform venipunctures on inpatients, outpatients, ER and nursing home patients.
• Identify patients with two identifiers per policy and verify ID.
• Draw blood in approximately 5 minutes with minimal trauma across ages.
• Label tubes at patient side with required information.
• Dispatch specimens to offsite locations for courier transport.
• Learn and apply new methodologies.
