Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience is required.
• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification is preferred, but not required.
• Maintains certification status (if applicable); meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements.
• Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required meeting essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection by venipuncture and capillary puncture.
• Label and process specimens and dispatch to testing locations.
• Train others in phlebotomy techniques and proper specimen handling.
• Enter test requisitions and greet/direct patients in the lab.
• Gather complete patient information for registration and accessioning.
• May perform point-of-care testing and ensure QC measures and equipment maintenance.
• Follow chain-of-custody requirements for pre-employment urine drug screens.
