Job summary

Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center in Garden Grove, CA is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant to support routine lab workflow under CLIA guidelines. Qualifications include a HS Diploma or equivalent, CPT I/II certification where required, and BCLS.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 1-year clinical laboratory experience performing similar job functions preferred.
• State Certified as CPT I or CPT II if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs computer entry, filing, telephone communication and clerical duties.
• Demonstrates good telephone etiquette and greets patients and visitors politely.
• Possesses good communication skills and knowledge of laboratory test terminology.
• Demonstrates knowledge of phlebotomy and equipment used for collecting specimens from newborns to geriatric patients.
• Processes pathology, microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens.
