The role includes venipuncture, specimen processing, EKGs, and LIS entry in a busy hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, phlebotomy experience or training, and BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy or hospital experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• BLS certification from an approved agency within 90 days of hire required.
• Completion of phlebotomy training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture using proper technique.
• Organizes blood collection workload and timelines to avoid delays.
• Delivers blood specimens to work sections and centrifuges specimens as needed.
• Processes outpatients for laboratory services and enters outpatient orders into the LIS system.
• Perform clerical duties such as retrieving specimens, answering phones, reviewing requisitions, faxing reports, filing, stocking.
• Performs EKGs on outpatients and submits printouts to the Respiratory department.
