Job summary

Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN is seeking a Phlebotomist to obtain laboratory specimens from hospital, clinic and nursing home patients, ensuring quality results and patient safety.

You will collect and manage blood samples, document patient information accurately, and follow asepsis techniques during phlebotomy. Excellent communication with patients about procedures is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy program completion or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy program or experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
• BLS certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain laboratory specimens for processing from hospital, clinic and nursing home patients.
• Perform testing and ensure quality results in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Record and document patient information accurately.
• Follow procedures and safety regulations; deploy asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures.
• Communicate with patients about phlebotomy procedures and answer questions.
